Terms and conditions

MJL tackle prides itself in selling the very best new and used tackle. Please take a few moments to have a quick read through our terms and conditions to make sure you are happy with any arrangements before you proceed:

Delivery of Your Item

Items purchased from MJL Tackle are sent out on either a 2/3 working day delivery service or a signed for, next working day delivery service. Items purchased before 12pm (Monday – Friday), are sent out the same day.

If you purchase your item after 12pm, it will be boxed up and sent out the next working day.

Example:

An item is purchased after 12pm on a Wednesday. We will box up your item and send it out on Thursday, using our next working day courier service.

Friday purchases:

Items purchased before 12pm on a Friday will be sent out for delivery on Monday. Items purchased after 12pm on a Friday will be sent out on Monday for Tuesday delivery.

Please note we do not send frozen bait out on a Friday. All frozen items purchased on a Friday, are sent Monday for Tuesday delivery.

On smaller items MJL Tackle also provides a cheaper 2-3 working day courier service. If your item qualifies for this service, you will have the chance to select this during the checkout process.  Please note this is an approximate time frame.  MJL Tackle will not be held responsible or delays in the services offered.

How much does delivery cost?

  • Collect from us – FREE – Please see our Click & Collect terms below.
  • 2-3 day delivery (option only available on smaller items) – £3.99
  • Next working day (smaller & medium sized items) – £6.99
  • Next working day (larger items) – £9.99

Please note delivery to Isle of Wight, Scottish Highlands & Ireland may take longer.

Can I track my item?

Tracking options are available for all next day delivery services. Tracking updates will be emailed out to you once your item is on its way. If you have not received an email notification please contact us and we will be able to supply tracking details.

What happens if I miss my delivery?

Should you miss a delivery, two further attempts will be made to successfully deliver the item. The item will then be held at the courier depo awaiting instruction for no longer than 5 working days before being sent back to us. If the item is returned to us, the customer will be charged for the return postage.

Receiving your item:

You will need to check the item before signing for it, otherwise please specify that it has not been checked when signing. Should your item arrive damaged, please contact us as soon as possible. See Purchases & Returns below.

If, at any stage, you have any queries about your order, please feel free to make contact and we’ll do our best to provide the latest update.

Click & Collect:

We are currently in the process of fitting out a small showroom in our warehouse. We can however still offer a Click & Collect service. Here’s how it works:

  • Purchase your item and select ‘Collect’ during the checkout process.
  • Pay for the item as usual
  • Phone us up to arrange an appointment time to collect the item – please note 24 hours is needed to process your items, so collection will be the following day
  • Print out your receipt/payment confirmation and bring this down to our unit along with the card you used to purchase the item/s. Please note we are unable to release the items if these two things are not present.
  • Collect your item!

If for some reason, we are unable to fulfil the collection time you require, we will send the item out through our usual postal rate, which will result in a delivery charge needing to be paid. Please see our Delivery page for postage costs.

Purchases & Returns

MJL Tackle complies with the latest Consumer Contract Regulations; we therefore offer:

A 14-day distance seller agreement. Should you be unhappy with the item you have received you have 14 days in which to notify us if you would like to return the item for a full refund.

Should you wish to return a purchased item you will need to inform us in writing either by email or post within 14 days of receiving it.
You do not have to give any details for returning the item, although we would find this useful in helping to improve our services to you.
The item will need to be returned in the original packaging in the same condition & quantity that it was purchased in.

You will be required to package and post the item to us at your own expense. Please ensure you have proof of postage. The goods should be packaged carefully to avoid any damage in the post.

Once received, a member of our team will inspect the item/s. Providing they have been returned, in the original purchased condition, a full refund will be issued. Damaged items, that do not reflect the original condition of purchase, may incur a fee/cost to replace or repair the item.

Any refund will be issued no later than 14 days of us receiving the returned goods and be issued using the original purchased card or personal cheque.

Please note, if we have not been notified about a wish to return the purchased item within 14 days of receiving it, MJL Tackle confirms that you agree the product received is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

Exclusions

Unfortunately we are unable to give refunds on the following products:

All frozen baits
Shelf life baits, pellets or dips that have been opened
Terminal tackle unless the product is faulty
All new items purchased through MJL Tackle come with a full manufacturers guarantee.
Guarantee on New Tackle

New items come with a full manufacturer’s guarantee. Please ensure you send off any warranty/guarantee cards to the manufacturer once you receive your goods.

Guarantees are a contract between you and the manufacturer, so please ensure you send off any warranty/guarantee cards to the manufacturer once you receive your goods and keep the original purchase receipt.

Guarantee on Used Tackle

Second hand items purchased through MJL tackle come with either a one or two-month guarantee from the point of sale (the date the item was purchased).

One Month Guarantee on all electrical used items – alarms / boats / lights etc.
Two Month Guarantee on all other used items

If your item develops a fault and is outside of our distance seller 14-day money back guarantee, MJL Tackle will endeavour to cover the cost of repair or replace with a like for like item, provided the item falls within the qualifying criteria. Where neither a repair or like for like alternative is possible an alternative option will be presented.

Please note that our guarantee cover does not cover the cost of postage. The customer will be required to cover any incurred postage costs as a result of any repair or replacement part/s.

Any claim will need to be made in writing within the guarantee period via post or email, stating the date of purchase and details of the fault/problem.

In some circumstances the customer may be required to send the item back to MJL Tackle before a decision can be made. A member of the team will contact you should this be required.

Please note we do not cover:

Damage caused by the customer or as a result of any modifications carried out to the item since purchase
A decision to change your mind about an item in relation to it being the wrong size or you don’t like the colour etc.

Selling to us

Obtaining a quote:

  • You will need to complete the appropriate online form found on our website, complete all the necessary fields & submit it to us. Please note we are only able to provide quotes for items with an original or existing new purchase price of £100 or more.
  • Please ensure all fields in the online form are completed. Failure to do this may affect the quoted price.
  • Once the online form has been submitted, the team will look to email a quote out within 48 hours based on the information you have provided. The quote will include the offer price and also a copy of your completed form (you’ll need to print & include this when sending your item to us)

Please be aware that our quote will take into account current market trends alongside a re-sale value. In some circumstances we may decline to offer a quote if the desired price you have specified on the form is too high and we are unable to match this. MJL Tackle will notify you of this through email.

If you wish to proceed with the sale of your item to MJL Tackle you will need to accept the quote by email or phone.

Sending your item to us

  • Once you have accepted our quote, the next step is to validate your Name & Address.  To do this we require you to email through a photo or scan of a recent utility bill (from the last 3 months) in your name with you current address.
  • Once we have confirmed this has been received you will then need to send the item safely to us. We would recommend that any high value items be sent by recorded delivery with appropriate insurance.  In some circumstances we may be able to offer a collection service.  This will be made clear in our quote if this option is available.
  • Before boxing up your item, print out the Email offer you received from us and post your item to MJL Tackle, Unit 4, Prospect Business Centre, Prospect Road, Alresford. Hants. SO24 9UH
  • Alternatively you are welcome to drop your item off at our premises. Please let us know by phone or email if you would like to do this.

Once received a member of the team will check the item and call to arrange the appropriate payment method.

  • Should an item be received by MJL Tackle, which does not match the item description, a member of the team will contact you to discuss an appropriate adjustment to our original quote.

If you, the customer, are unhappy with the amended quote and require the item to be returned, or we choose to reject the item based on the product falling below our benchmark standard of condition, you will be charged return carriage. The item will be returned in the original packaging by signed, insured, next day delivery. We will require full payment for return carriage before the item can be dispatched back to you and only a registered return address will be used.

Receiving Payment

  • Once the goods have been received we will call you to discuss your preferred choice of payment. We can send money instantly via PayPal or send a personal cheque to your home address.
  • If you require an instant payment via PayPal, a valid PayPal account will be required.
  • Instant payments via PayPal will be sent to your account as a ‘Purchase’ and may therefore incur PayPal fees. Unfortunately we are unable to cover any PayPal fees you may be charged as a result of the transaction.
  • Cheque payments will be sent the next working day by first class post to the address provided & made out to you, the customer, only.

Part Exchange items

Please note, we currently only offer Part Exchange services against rods, reels, alarms & bait boats.

If you are looking to part exchange tackle:

  • You will need to complete the online form found on our website, by clicking on the Part Exchange Button next to the item you are interested in buying. Please note we are only able to provide quotes for items with an original or existing new purchase price of £100 or more.
  • Please ensure all fields in the online form are completed. Failure to do this may affect the Part Exchange price offered.
  • Once the online form has been submitted, the team will look to email a quote out within 48 hours based on the information you have provided. The quote will include the offer price and also a copy of your completed form (you’ll need to print & include this when sending your item to us)
  • Please be aware that our quote will take into account current market trends alongside a re-sale value. In some circumstances we may decline to offer a quote if the desired price you have specified on the form is too high and we are unable to match this. Purchasing an item using Part Exchange

  • To proceed, purchase the item from our website and pay in full
  • Send your part exchange item to us, along with the paperwork emailed to you when you received the quote. Send the item to MJL Tackle, Unit 4, Prospect Business Centre, Prospect Road, Alresford. Hants. SO24 9UH
  • Please note, you will be responsible for sending the part exchange item safely to us. We would recommend that any high value items be sent by recorded delivery with appropriate insurance.
  • Alternatively you are welcome to drop your item off at our premises, during the listed opening times found on the website. Please let us know by phone or email if you are planning to do this.
  • Once we have received your item a member of the team will check the item and will refund the quoted amount back onto your card from the original purchase.
  • Should an item be received by MJL Tackle, which does not match the item description, a member of the team will contact you to discuss an appropriate adjustment to our original quote.
